Pricing and pilot
Start with a free pilot in one school. No purchase order needed.
After the pilot, your district's price is written in the order form you sign. No real student data goes in until you have tried every role in the demo district and your state's student data privacy agreement is signed.
- 1. The demo district, 14 days. Fictional schools, staff and children, with a sign-in link for each seat: district admin, principal, teacher, classroom tablet and parent. Your demo district opens right away.
- 2. One school. If it fits, we turn the same district into your pilot on your own domain. The demo schools, staff, children and settings are removed first, so your district starts clean and nothing typed into the demo becomes a real account.
- 3. The agreement before real data. We sign your state's student data privacy agreement before the pilot holds any real student data.

- Backpack shows no ads and tracks nothing for advertising. Videos play in the video host's own embedded player, which may show a short ad before some videos. Backpack does not choose those ads.

Effort
What each person spends.
| Role | Spends | On |
|---|---|---|
| Teacher | About eight minutes a week | Choose videos from the approved list, then one tap to open the tablet or start a class session. Nothing to install. |
| Principal | One setup page, then requests | Choose who approves new videos for each grade band and confirm how children sign in. After that, approve or decline requests as they arrive. |
| Technology director | Domain and roster | Verify the district's email domain, then upload a roster file and preview it before anything is written. |
| District admin | Invitations and the catalog | Invite the people above, keep the approved catalog (remove a video once and it leaves every backpack), and send the parent notice. |
| Families | A code, once | Type the code from the family letter and an email address. After that, ask for a sign-in link by email. No password. |
